The secret recipe of the Waylon Jennings egg-nog

December 23, 2009

Dear Jean has unexpectedly conquered outlaw country legend Waylon Jennings mythical Christmas egg-nog recipe. The recipe has remained a well kept secret for decades. And now it is out in the open. It’s almost unreal.

Recipe for six to eight people:
12 large eggs
5 dl of whipped cream
50 cl bourbon
1 coffee cup of dark rum
1 l of melted vanilla ice cream
4 coffee cups of sugar

1. Pour the rum and brandy into a bowl.
2. Place the egg yolks and egg whites into two separate mixing bowls. Set the egg whites aside. Beat the egg yolks until light and frothy. Gradually beat in the sugar until the egg mixture is light colored. Slowly beat in the liquor mixture. While mixing, pour in the melted vanilla ice cream until thoroughly blended.
3. Using a clean beater, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the mixture.
4. Pour the eggnog into a punch bowl. Stir sedately. Add whipped cream. Garnish with nutmeg heedfully.
5. Then serve devotionally.

Dear Jean wishes you a Merry Christmas.

The Stooges in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

December 17, 2009

The Stooges finally will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. In 1968, the Stooges were signed by Elektra Records, who had sent a scout named Danny Fields to see the MC5. Luckily, he wound up signing both acts. 1969 saw the release of their self-titled debut album. Iggy wanted the Stooges to be what he’d seen in Chicago as a young guy. “These old bluesmen playing so hard that the music drips off you.”

Fun House, followed in 1970. Many consider it to be the best representation of the Stooges, as the main goal of the album was to capture the manic energy of their live performances. On June 13 of that year, television captured footage of the band at the Cincinnati Pop Festival. While performing the songs “T.V. Eye” and “1970”, Pop leapt into the crowd, where he was hoisted up on people’s hands.

“The Stooges is the perfect embodiment of what rock music should be. Their music was total high-energy blues, with the contemporary freakout of Jimi Hendrix and the free-jazz spirit of John Coltrane.”, Thurston Moore stated in Rolling Stone Magazine In 2004. Dear Jean couldn’t agree more.

“We’ve been rejected seven times, and we would have set a record, I think, if it happened again,” Iggy Pop comments on being inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Wild nights

December 11, 2009

Yesterday, Stockholm celebrated the annual Nobel Prize Award Cermonies. Dear Jean, however, celebrated the memory and birthday of American poet Emily Dickinson (December 10, 1830 – May 15, 1886).

Wild nights! Wild nights!
Were I with thee,
Wild night should be
Our luxury!

Futile the winds
To a heart in port –
Done with the compass,
Done with the chart.

Rowing in Eden!
Ah! The sea!
Might I but moor
Tonight in thee!
